The Orchard Fruitcake is the base for all of my Christmas & celebration cakes. It is a rich traditional fruitcake made with 50% dried fruit plus home grown cherries, apples, walnuts & hazelnuts from the orchard, as well as traditional dried fruit, all soaked in Sherry for several days before being Aga baked in my 5* rated home kitchen and hand decorated for your special occasion.
Prices include FREE postage to anywhere in the UK. Or collect from Covenham House at Southery (by arrangement), or buy at Delaynies at Littleport or any of our Events and you will save several pounds in postage cost and there will also be a selection of smaller cakes and different designs.
We aim to keep a stock of Orchard Fruitcakes at all times but they will be iced, and decorated to order and must set firmly before posting so please allow at least 2 weeks from order to delivery. If needed in a hurry please contact me before ordering to check current availability.
A standard 7" cake weighs at least 1.5kg (over 3lb) and will cut into about 25 generous slices or about 30-40 'fingers'. Most designs can be made in a larger 9" (2.5kg) cake on request.
Sorry, spaces for decorated-to-order Christmas cakes are fully booked. Please see my Ebay Items for any that are still available for immediate dispatch.
Birthday & Celebration Fruitcakes Are Available All Year
Here are a few pictures of cakes I have made in the past, please contact me to let me know what you woud ike on the cake. Most designs cost £28 including postage for a family sized (1.5kg 7") cake or £38 for a party sized (2.2+kg 9") cake.
A couple of things you need to know:
The prices reflect that I am a home cook, not a professional cake decorator. You are buying a 'home made' cake. I do not promise perfect icing but I do guarantee that the cakes will taste delicious! (I can recommend an amazing local cake artist if you are looking for something extra special and have a larger budget).
Fruit cakes are by their nature quite solid and we take every care to wrap them securely. However no delivery company will accept responsibility for damage to 'perishable' items (even with 12 month shelf life !). Therefore I regret that cakes can only be sent at the buyer's risk. Damage is rare and in any case only likely to be minor damage to the icing - if this occurs please contact me and I will advise how best to repair it.
If planning to take your cake to an event please check with the venue BEFORE ordering from us. We have 5* hygiene rating and full public & products liability insurance that would cover the very highly unlikely event of something going wrong, and for that reason I regret I do not sign indemnity forms for venues (to date only the Grand Hotel at Eastbourne has asked for this, but please ask your venue for their policy).
See our 'Store Policies' page or contact me for further details.
